Garden Club: Flower Arrangements

Learn the science behind flower arranging with the Marshall Area Garden Club & create your own colorful & lively bouquet. After the program, you’ll be able to enter your work into the Palette of Blooms Flower Show.

The library’s summer youth events are open to students who have completed kindergarten-5th grade. A parent or guardian is REQUIRED to attend with youth going into grades 1-3 in the fall. These programs are offered both at 1 pm & at 2:30 pm; please select the 1 hour session that works best for your family.

Registration is required & opens on the Monday previous. For example, programs running June 16-19 will be open for registration beginning Monday, June 9.

Our programs are free (& very popular)! We often have a waiting list; if you register but can no longer attend, please let us know! Please note: Watch your email for a response, noting confirmation or waitlist status, within 24-48 hours. If you do not have regular email access, you may contact our Help Desk for assistance with registration.

We’re making suncatchers with the Marshall Area Garden Club using fresh & dried plant material showing the wonderful colors & patterns of nature. After the program, you’ll be able to enter your work into the Palette of Blooms Flower Show.

Palette of Blooms

Stop by the library on Friday or Saturday to be immersed in a world of nature & art at the Palette of Blooms Flower Show. The flower show is a partnership between the library & the Marshall Area Garden Club giving both youth & adults the chance to explore design & color while creating a visual display for the entire community to enjoy. Everyone is encouraged to participate alongside Garden Club members by entering the horticulture division, Painting with Plants, or the design division, Colorful Expressions.

For more information, visit the library for general rules & information. Youth participating in select library programs will also be creating pieces for the non-judged exhibit: Youthful Blooms. It is free to enter & to attend the flower show.

Basic Gardening for the Whole Family

Make gardening an engaging activity for the whole family this summer with suggestions from Marshall resident & award-winning gardener Duane Dupee. Learn about planting a vegetable garden, organic practices, the role of pollinators, & the benefits of growing your own plants whether for food or beauty. After the garden talk, learn more about the community flower show at the library in June. Everyone is encouraged to participate alongside Marshall Area Garden Club members by entering the horticulture division, Painting with Plants, or the design division, Colorful Expressions. Youth participating in select library programs will also be creating pieces for the non-judged exhibit: Youthful Blooms. It is free to enter & to attend the flower show.
