Marshall District Library Technology Training Agreement

Marshall District Library provides technology support and training to visitors. Library staff will not make repairs to personal devices or be responsible for personal belongings.

By participating in a technology training session, users agree to the Library’s Internet Use Policy, which includes:

  • The Library is not responsible for damages or malfunctions of personal devices.
  • The Library assumes no responsibility for any damages resulting from Internet use.
  • The Library is not responsible for personal information shared online.
  • Library visitors and staff may not view explicit materials.

Things We Can Do:

  • Assist with learning software programs.
  • Assist with learning to navigate the Internet and email.
  • Assist with online applications. (The library is not responsible for private information given to third-party websites.)
  • Assist with troubleshooting computer and device issues.
  • Assist with moving files and photos.
  • Assist with navigating an operating system.
  • Assist with installing software and running updates.
  • Assist with backing up and restoring files and photos.
  • Recommend software and hardware to help achieve technology goals. (The library is not responsible for purchases or liable for items.)
  • Assist with navigating phone calls with tech or customer support as a translator.
  • Provide up to one hour of help twice a month.

Things We Can’t Do:

  • Take a device apart to troubleshoot.
  • Keep your device at the library under staff supervision.
  • Visit your home or personal property, including vehicles.
  • Store your passwords or other personal information.
  • Perform professional repairs; staff can only teach basic troubleshooting.
