Scandalous Ancestors

September 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Trained archivist Jessica Trotter presents this special genealogy program. She will provide ideas for tracing “scandalous” ancestors, including a case study featuring an unreliable ancestor with a research story that began during the 1860s in Detroit and ended in Logan County, Illinois. Topics covered will include taboos related to births, deaths, marriages and criminal records and the use of resources like newspapers, city directories, and court records. Registration begins September 5 for MDL cardholders and September 8 for all others. Visit the Help Desk, call 269-781-7821 ext. 10, or register online.
